Potential for Leadership

Before entering the program, I have been in multiple leadership roles before. While in the MLIS program at OU, I have learned how to apply my experience in management to libraries and how the organizational structure works within libraries. For example, I was put into a leadership position to lead a month of library-wide programming because of an assignment I created in one of my classes. I will continue to apply my leadership experience and the knowledge gained from the courses taken to become a better leader in future endeavors.


Vision Statement: I will be a leader within the public library system helping with STEAM programming, reducing socio-technical gaps, and equality in service.


Mission Statement: To help bolster STEAM programming by creating new and innovative programming, providing programming to address socio-technical gaps, providing equality of services to the community, and helping increase efficiency and training to save time for patrons during the information-seeking process.


After finishing the MLIS program, I will continue to improve my leadership skills by learning about leadership skills and techniques and through experiences. I will also work to gain more opportunities to prove my leadership potential.
